HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 12 (acn) A meeting of the presidents of the economic conference of Japan and Cuba, chaired by Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, and Mr. Tomoyoshi Kondo, adviser to trading company Sojitz Corp, took place on the occasion of the first meeting of the Cuban-Japanese Public-Private Joint Committee, held on November 10, 2015 in this city.
Both sides agreed that bilateral relations are at a moment of opportunity and high potential to relaunch them to a higher level.
They highlighted the holding of this first meeting of the committee, agreeing that this mechanism will be an important and useful space for the expansion and deepening of economic, trade and bilateral cooperation relations.
It also was in session for the first time the Sub -Committee on Energy of the conferences, where it which was conducted a detailed explanation of the current situation of Cuba and the policy approved for the development of renewable energy, as well as the interest for development of economic cooperation and business between companies from both countries.
As part of the agenda of the meeting there were also presented to the Asian businessmen the opportunities to achieve a higher level of exports of Cuban goods and services to Japan.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials from both countries and businessmen members of the conferences.
