HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 30 (acn) US deputy secretary for Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas held talks on Thursday with Cuban first deputy foreign minister Marcelino Medina at the headquarters of the Cuban Foreign Ministry in Havana.
The two government officials addressed US-Cuba relations and the possibilities to expand cooperation in issues of mutual interest as part of the ongoing process towards the normalization of relations between the two countries, according to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
Alejandro Mayorkas was accompanied by the Charge d´ Affaires at the US embassy in Havana, Jeffrey DeLaurentis; the commissioner for Customs and Border Protection, R. Gil Kerlikowske, and other officials from the US Department of Homeland Security.
On the Cuba side was Josefina Vidal, general director for the United States at the Foreign Ministry and other Cuban officials.
