Raul Meets with President of Italy's Council of Ministers

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, received the President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, Matteo Renzi, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

During the cordial meeting, held on Wednesday afternoon at Revolution Palace, they spoke about the positive development of bilateral relations and expressed their willingness to expand economic and trade cooperation, as well as the interest in promoting academic and cultural exchanges between the two nations. In addition, they discussed various topics of international topicality.
Accompanying the distinguished visitor were doctors Carlo Calenda and Mario Giro, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, respectively; and Ambassador Carmine Robustelli.
Cuba was also represented at the meeting by Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment; Marcelino Medina and Rogelio Sierra, acting foreign minister and deputy foreign minister, respectively, and Alba Soto, Cuba's ambassador to Italy.
Previously, the Italian Prime Minister honored Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at Havana's Revolution Square, where he laid a wreath.
