HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 28 (acn) Italy´s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi arrived Tuesday evening in Havana following an invitation made by President Raul Castro during his visit to Rome in May.
Renzi described is meeting with Raul Castro in Rome as a new page in bilateral relations between Rome and Havana and also noted that Cuba and Italy may do many things together.
Upon his arrival at Havana´s Jose Marti International airport, the Italian premier was welcomed by deputy foreign minister Rogelio Sierra and members of the diplomatic community accredited on the island.
During his stay here, Renzi will hold official talks with President Raul Castro and will open a business forum on Wednesday at Havana´s National Hotel.
The Italian premier is a 40-year-old politician with a bachelor degree in Law. This is Renzi´s first tour of Latin America and the Caribbean which includes visits to Chile, Peru and Colombia.
