Cuba denounces US blockade still in place

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 27 (acn) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, today renewed the complaint of Cuba that the unjust and cruel policy of economic, financial and commercial US blockade continues despite statements by President Barack Obama saying is obsolete and should be removed.

President Obama asked the US Congress to consider the need to lift the blockade, but his measures are not enough, said the Cuban Foreign Minister at the 70 regular session of the international organization, with 193 member states.

He added that the situation remains despite the almost unanimous demand of the international community and support in 2014 of 188 Member States and the participation of Cuba in the Summit of the Americas in Panama and the claim of American society.

He recalled that 10 months after Obama in his State of the Union, there have not been any changes to his announced measures and instead has worsened the impact of the blockade of Cuba.

To cite a few cases, he said that Cuba is still barred from export and import products and services to the US, using the US dollar in international financial transactions or have accounts in that currency in banks of third countries.
