Cuban Medical Brigade Returns Home from Dominica after Helping Hurricane Victims

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 14 (acn) The brigade of doctors, epidemiologists and nurses, and construction and electrical engineers who helped the victims of Tropical Storm Erika in the Commonwealth of Dominica for six weeks will return to Cuba on Wednesday.

The medical team headed by Dr. Norberto Ramos, composed of nine physicians and seven nurses, including five specialists in obstetric care, joined the 11 Cuban doctors of the Comprehensive Health Program who work there.
The physicians worked in the districts of Saint Joseph, Portsmouth, Great Bay, La Plaine, Castle Bruce and Marigot with the aim of strengthening primary care at health centers and carry out health promotion activities.
The group is part of the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics that since its creation has completed many tasks in various parts of the world.
