HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 8 (acn) Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice-president of the Council of Ministers, received the Prime Minister (PM) of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fico, who is on an official visit to Cuba accompanied by Miroslav Lajcak, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs; and Peter Kazimir, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finances, as well as by other top officials of the Slovak government.
During the meeting, held on Thursday morning at the headquarters of the Council of Ministers, the two leaders agreed on the good state of bilateral relations, with emphasis in the economic-commercial sphere, where historic ties between the two countries exist.
They highlighted the progress made in recent years, which is evidenced by the signing of eleven agreements in areas such as finance, education, culture and sports, among others.
Cabrisas stressed the importance of Slovak participation in Cuban energy development, and in its recent expansion.
For his part, the Slovak premier expressed his interest in expanding bilateral trade and exploring new business and investment opportunities in Cuba.
At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Electrical Union of Cuba, the Slovak company SES Tlmace and the Slovakian Eximbank for cooperation in the field of energy was signed.
