Cuban First VP Diaz-Canel Receives Top UN Official

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 7 (acn) Politburo member and First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, received Helen Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), who is on a working visit to Cuba.

The Granma newspaper reports that during the cordial meeting, held on Tuesday morning, the UN official expressed her satisfaction for being able to accompany Cuba in the process of updating of its economic model and ratified the willingness of the UNDP to continue offering all cooperation possible.
Also tackled during the meeting were topics of mutual interest on the South-South cooperation, in which Cuba maintains an outstanding role.
Accompanying the distinguished visitor were Jessica Faieta Mejía, Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean; Myrta Kaulard, UNDP Resident Representative to Cuba; and Claudio Tomasi, Deputy Resident Representative.
Cuba was also represented at the meeting by Rodrigo Malmierca, Minster of Foreign Trade and Investment; and William Diaz, acting director of International Economic Organizations of that Ministry.
