President of AU Commission to Visit Havana's IPKHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 1 (acn) Doctor Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, President of the African Union Commission, who is on an official visit to Cuba, will tour on Thursday the capital's Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute (IPK).

At this center of the Ministry of Public Health, the visitor will meet with physicians who fought the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Conakry, where they carried out the honorable mission even at the risk of their own lives.
Standing out among results achieved by the over 250 physicians and nurses, members of the Henry Reeve International Contingent, are the more than 400 lives saved and an overall death rate of 24.4 percent.
This shows the training received from IPK experts, in addition to their commitment and dedication to work, aspects that have been recognized by the governments of these countries, the World Health Organization and other international bodies.
Internationally acknowledged for the many notable results and awards obtained by its researchers, the IPK is a scientific institution, and some of its laboratories are cooperation centers of the World Organization and Pan American Health organizations.
During her stay in the Caribbean nation, which will run until October 5, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma plans to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Republic of Cuba and the African Union Commission, and meet with African students now being trained at the Latin American Medical School, from where over 26,000 physicians of 90 nations have graduated.
