HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 21 (acn) Marcia Videaux was the best Cuban gymnast in the World Cup in Osijek, Croatia, by winning one silver medal in the floor event in addition to be included in three of the four finals scheduled.
With score of 13,300 units, the Caribbean athlete shared the second seat on the floor with Hungarian Tunde Csillag, and was only surpassed by Puerto Rican Paula Andre Mejias (13,550), reflected the official website of the contest.
Videaux also finished fifth in vault with score of 13,525, well below what she did in the qualifying round, event she had won with 14,925, while she also finished seventh in the uneven bars (11,775).
The other Cuban representative who managed to be included in the finals was Manrique Larduet, considered the best Cuban gymnast of this time, who was fifth seat on the vault (14,713) and sixth in the rings (14,675).
Larduet could not reach the finals in events in which he usually gets meritorious records in the international arena as in the floor where he finished 29th with 13,050, parallel bars (14th / 13,800), horizontal bar (15th / 13,250) and pommel horse (18th / 13,700), while his teammates Randy Leru and Dovelis Torres ran out of any chances of advancing to the finals, in both sexes.
The European event served as meter of the Cuban squad in its training for the World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in coming October, where they will try to obtain a qualifying ticket for the 2016 Summer Olympics (Brazil).
