HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) Pope Francis arrived in Havana this afternoon at 4 for a four-day visit that includes his officiating of three public Mass in Havana city, Holguin and Santiago.
Cuban President Raul Castro received His Holiness on the tarmac of the Jose Marti International Airport, accompanied by Cuban cardinal Jaime Ortega, as well as top officials of the Cuban government and the Catholic Church.
After descending from the Alitalia plane that brought him from Rome, Francis received flowers from Cuban children, to whom he spoke from brief moments before the official welcoming ceremony.
Later, the Cuban president delivered a speech to welcome the Pope, marking the beginning of a tight agenda for His Holiness in Cuba, before departing for the US on September 22
