Vicepresident Stresses Massive Turnout at Cuban General ElectionsGUANTANAMO, Cuba, Feb 3 (ACN) Cuba's first vice-president Jose Ramon Machado Ventura stressed the massive turnout at Sunday's General Elections.

After casting his vote in a voting station in this eastern Cuban city, Ventura said today's general elections are vital for the revolution, where Cubans are electing Parliament deputies and provincial government delegates.

Machado Ventura, who also is the Second Secretary of Cuba's Communist Party Central Committee, said the democratic process is crucial for the country, since it is linked to the update of the economic update and the implementation of the economic and social guidelines adopted by the latest congress of the Communist Party.

He expressed his personal satisfaction for the way the elections are developing, marked by the enthusiasm of millions of Cubans who, he said, will be appropriately represented by those they will elect today because they are simple, revolutionary and honest people.
