Argentinean President to Travel to Cuba for Pope's Mass

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 11(acn) Argentinean head of state Cristina Fernandez will travel to Cuba to attend the mass that will be officiated by Pope Francis at Havana's Revolution Square on Sunday, September 20, the Presidency informed on Friday.

An official statement specifies that the visit of the Argentinean President responds to an invitation extended to her by her Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.
During her stay in Cuba Fernandez will hold meetings with various authorities of the island to address bilateral and multilateral issues, points out the note.
The Supreme Pontiff is scheduled to be on the island on September 19-22, and during his stay he will officiate mass in Havana, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba. In the latter he will visit the Basilica del Cobre, where the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre (Virgin of Charity), Cuba's patron saint, is located.
The Argentinean President was the first dignitary received by the Pope after being elected by the conclave that appointed him as successor of Pedro.
