HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 11 (acn) The Cuban Association of Animal Production in Holguin, belonging to the Agriculture Ministry, works in the creation of a new project associated with the Cauto River basin aimed at reducing environmental pollution.
The program that should begin its execution next year in the town of Maceo in the municipality of Cacocum is aimed at using renewable energy sources like biogas, windmills and others in the systems of the cattle activity, said Miriam Pena, coordinator of the institution's projects.
She pointed out that the main objective is to support the rural production in highly vulnerable areas that contribute in contaminating the river but from a human development process capable of using sustainable environmental technologies.
That is why, she added, it is important to create an infrastructure that will allow the training of personnel directly linked to the productive actions in order to stimulate a culture of conservation and new methodologies to conserve the environment.
The specialist pointed out that introducing these technologies to the population the cattle production will increase in the eastern territory because the constituted systems will reuse 50 percent of its contaminating load and the families will be benefited with at least two variants of renewable energy for their daily activities.
The basin project also has the support and cooperation of the Porcine Group, Electric Company and the territorial delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
