Panamanian President Makes Donation to Cuban Special Education Center

Panamanian President Makes Donation to Cuban Special Education CenterHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 10 (acn) Juan Carlos Varela, president of the Republic of Panama, made a donation in this capital on Thursday to the Solidarity with Panama special education school for children with physical and motor limitations, which he toured as part of his visit to Cuba.

Computers with anatomically adapted keyboards, television sets and sneakers were some of the items delivered to the school, in which more than 180 children are studying, the tuition of which costs more than six thousand pesos per student annually to the Cuban State.
The president, who has already spoken on another two occasions with teachers and students of the center, asserted that the love and dedication of these professors towards their pupils is an example for men and women working in the public sector around the world.
Teachers here prove that financial resources only fulfill their function when used to serve others –he stated-; nothing has been more beautiful to me than to see children I met when they were six or seven years old and today they already have the skills they need to be included in social life.
During his stay in Cuba, the Panamanian head of state held talks with Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, and will complete his agenda with a tour of the Latin American Medical School.
