Fight against US blockade of Cuba is a priority for international solidarity

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 8 (acn) The president of the Cuban Friendship Institute, Kenia Serrano, said that the fight against the over-50-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba is top priority for solidarity actions with the island.

Serrano spoke at the opening of the 7th Asia-Pacific Regional Forum in Solidarity with Cuba, held Monday and Tuesday in Hanoi with the participation of over 200 representatives from solidarity organizations in 18 countries.
Present at the forum was Cuban anti-terrorist fighter Antonio Guerrero.
"We must keep raising our voices in all possible forums to denounce this arbitrary policy that violates international law," said Serrano during the ceremony, which was attended by Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, member of Vietnam´s Communist Party Political Bureau and president of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship organization.
Referring to the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, Serrano said that a total normalization of links would take long because the US blockade is still there, while a portion of Cuban territory in the province of Guantanamo is still illegally occupied by a US naval base and this cannot allow us to speak about normal relations.
The forum allowed participants to learn about Cuban reality and consider the strengthening of supportive initiatives with Cuba.
