HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 1 (acn) The member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, arrived in Moscow in transit for Beijing.
The Granma newspaper reported on Tuesday that during his stay he was received by Valentina Matvienko, President of the Council of the Russian Federation; Dimitri Rogozin, vice-president of the government and co-chairman of the Russian-Cuban Intergovernmental Commission; and by Ivan Mielnikov, First Vice-president of the State Duma.
The exchanges held in the atmosphere of cordiality and mutual trust that characterizes Cuban-Russian relations made it possible to assess the current and prospect state of these relations, and verify the very positive moment the links between the two States are, within the framework of a high level of political dialogue and close cooperation in international organizations, and the materialization of joint projects in key sectors that are part of the Cuban-Russian bilateral economic agenda.
Accompanying the Cuban First Vice-president were Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra and Cuban ambassador to Moscow, Emilio Lozada.
