The Federation of Cuban Women, FMC, will commemorate its 55 th anniversary on August 23rd founded by the historic leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro as a renovated and strengthened organization that extols its main values: defense of the Revolution and women's equality.
Among some of the multiple activities to celebrate its anniversary are encounters between the National Bureau and different sectors of society to learn about their concerns and interests.
Teresa Amarelle, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and General Secretary of the FMC expressed that these exchanges is aimed at promoting and transmitting experiences to the new generation.
This initiative also responds to the agreements of the 9 th FMC Congress that is currently underway in the delegations and municipalities aimed at strengthening the work of its members.
The FMC gathers all women in Cuban civil society over 14 years of age willing to join the mass organization which is diverse with its members in the fields of agriculture, science, house wives and students.
During these meetings the members express what they want from their organization, feelings that they are well represented and ways to incorporate in the political and social development of their country, above all, how can we create better conditions in order to insert women in the development of the current scenario.
These opinions help in pushing forward public policies because we also are part of the working commissions at the national level that interact with different ministries and institutions in the decision making process, she said.
We know the women feel they are working, useful and contribute to the country's progress.
When the women advance and is incorporated we are achieving development of the Cuban society where there is no wage discrimination, where men and women have the same rights and opportunities. This, of course sets the basis to continue society which has achieved social justice for all.
The guidelines of the work of the FMC includes the defense of human, revolutionary values, fighting social indiscipline, educational work, prevention and health promotion, in addition to also consolidating the family as an important cell of society.
Amarella recognized the work in the province of Granma which will be the site of the national activity for the 5th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women, FMC, while Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba, Guantanamo and Artemisa which were also among the top provinces.
All of the FMC's achievements is the result of the ideals and work of VilmaEspin, its eternal President, whose thinking and creative work will always be present in any task taken on by the sector.
The Federation of Cuban Women is the largest female entity on the island and its current membership reaches 4.2 million women that love and creates a better future for all.
