Raul Receives Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 15 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, received Nicolas Maduro, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

During the fraternal meeting, held on Friday afternoon, Raul and Maduro expressed their satisfaction for the development of the excellent relations uniting the two countries, and spoke about important topics on the regional and international agendas, the Granma newspaper reported on Saturday.
The Army General reiterated Cuba's support for the Bolivarian Revolution, inspired in the ideas of Chavez, and for the civil-military union headed by President Nicolas Maduro.
For his part, Maduro expressed his profound joy for the opportunity of meeting with the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution on the occasion of his 89th birthday.
Also participating in the meeting were top Venezuelan combatant Cilia Flores and Bruno Rodriguez, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs.
After the meeting, Raul saw Maduro and Flores off at the airport.
