Raul Congratulates JR Newspaper on its 50th Anniversary

Raul Congratulates JR Newspaper on its 50th AnniversaryHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 11 (acn) Army General Raul Castro, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and President of the councils of State and Ministers, sent congratulations to the Cuban youth newspaper, Juventud Rebelde, on the occasion of its 50th birthday and the photo exhibition titled "A Rebel in Rebelde," opened on Monday in this capital at the Jose Marti Memorial.

Fifty photos of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, published in Juventud Rebelde throughout its five decades of existence, make up the exhibition inaugurated by Miguel Diaz-Canel, member the Politburo and First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers.
Next to Marina Menendez, director of the newspaper, he cut the ribbon, the only concession to protocol in this cordial meeting between friends of a youth newspaper, which recognizes Fidel not only as the founder, but also as its inspiring source, its main contributor and most famous chronicler, whose life confirms that youth is, above all, an act of faith.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the "pioneer" generation of the Revolution, like Armando Hart and Jorge Risquet, and also of the "new pines" and its political vanguard, the Young Communists League, as well as Yuniasky Crespo, its first secretary, and many of the members of the organization's National Bureau.
Also present were Eusebio Leal, Graziella Pogolotti and other renowned Cuban intellectuals, a group of colleagues from various media outlets, headed by Antonio Molto, president of the Association of Cuban Journalists, and not a few of the photographers that took the snapshots that are actually history and, in fact, a tribute to Fidel.
Deputy and journalist Yoerky Sanchez, member of the board of directors of Juventud Rebelde, thanked them for zooming in on dreams and capturing the mystique that comes from this exceptional man, that permanent "state of grace" of the eternal Commander in Chief of Cuban revolutionaries, his indissoluble link with the people and, especially, with youngsters.
In these 50 images we find the deep look in his eyes, the warmth of his physical presence, the soul that devotes itself to just causes, the ardent prophet of dawn, as Che Guevara described him, the eternal young rebel whose 89th birthday we celebrate from our newspaper, he added.
