Cuba to Host Intl. Seminar on DengueHAVANA, Cuba, Jul 30 (acn) An international course on dengue will be held on August 10-21 in Havana, aimed at discussing important and current aspects of the disease and its control.

At the meeting, which will be held at the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute, the epidemiological situation of the disease at global and regional levels will be updated, and participants will discuss the clinical management of patients, vector control, and progress in research work on dengue in terms of pathogenesis, vaccines, development of antivirus drugs and individual genetics, the Cubasi Web site reported on Thursday.
Likewise, papers will be presented on the influence of climate change on dengue and the confrontation of emergencies, as well as other aspects.
Also, the results of the implementation of the Comprehensive Management Strategy that the Pan-American Health Organization and countries develop in the Americas for a better confrontation of that condition, along with other international initiatives, will be presented.
As part of the meeting, there will be a parallel three-day course on Mathematical Modeling for dengue prediction.
The Ministry of Public Health, the Pan-American Health Organization-World Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) and the PAHO/WHJO Cooperation Center for the Study of Dengue and its Vector of the Pedro Kouri Tropical Medicine Institute organize the meeting.
