HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 22 /acn) Foreign Minister (FM) Bruno Rodriguez received in the early hours of Wednesday the Cuban delegation that traveled to Washington DC, U.S.A., for the reopening of the island's embassy there.
Rodriguez, who arrived in Havana hours before, welcomed the group at the capital's Jose Marti International Airport, which was composed of intellectuals, artists, cooperative members, scientists, physicians, union leaders, students and sports stars among others.
The FM recalled the emotional moments experienced on Monday when, coinciding with the date of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, the opening ceremony of Caribbean island's delegation was held in the U.S. capital.
Upon the arrival, a picture with the July 26 flag visual arts creator Alexis Leyva (Kcho) symbolically carried during his trip to the United States was taken.
The brief meeting concluded between chants of long live Fidel, Raul and the Revolution and anecdotes on exchanges held with U.S. authorities.
During his stay in Washington, the Cuban Foreign Minister met with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who assessed the state of bilateral relations and offered a joint press conference.
