HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 20 (acn) The official ceremony to re-open the Cuban embassy in Washington DC started with the hoisting of the Cuban banner and the chords of the Cuban national anthem and the presence of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
Cries of Viva Cuba! and cheers shook the house located at 2630, 16th Street, that from today will be the Cuban embassy in the US.
Some 700 people attended the ceremony, where Rodriguez delivered a speech that expressed the Cuban willingness to move forward in the reestablishment of relations between the two countries
In the first minute of this Monday, July 20, the diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States were officially re-established, and the respective Interest Sections in Washington and Havana became embassies, after months of negotiations between the two governments.
