HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 12 (acn) The standing committees of the National Assembly of the People's Power continued on Sunday their work in this capital, in the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (CC of the PCC).
Diaz-Canel, also First Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, participates in the debates made together by the groups of Education; Culture; Science; Technology and the Environment; and of Attention to Youth and Children and Women's Rights, on the work of Technical Colleges and Trade Schools.
Before beginning to analyze the issue, Arelis Santana, president of the Commission on Attention to Youth and Children and Women's Rights, underlined that deputies joined the popular tribute to Cuban heroine Mariana Grajales in the bicentenary of her birth, of whom she highlighted her pro-independence values and as mother of the Maceo patriots.
Likewise, Politburo members Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes, Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers; Salvador Valdes, Vice-president of the Council of State; and Esteban Lazo, President of the Cuban Parliament, are present in the joint session of three commissions –Attention to Services, of Economic and Industrial Affairs and of Construction and Energy, which review the achievements and mistakes in the programs of production and commercialization of construction materials; of housing, and the granting of subsidies and bank credits.
The 10 standing committees of the National Assembly are meeting at Havana's Convention Center since Saturday and will end their debates on Monday, as prelude of the 5th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the 8 th Legislature, which will take place on Wednesday, July 15.
Another topic under debate on Sunday will be the results of audits made to entities affecting the fulfillment of the plan of the economy and the execution of the State's budget due to violations in Internal Control.
Local initiatives as income source in tourism and the work of self-employed persons as child minders are also assessed.
