Young foreigners will climb the Turquino Peak in Cuba

BAYAMO, Cuba, Jul 10 (acn) To celebrate more than six years of university studies, along with an outstanding solidarity work with Cuba, 22 young people from Latin American, African and Caribbean nations will climb next Saturday Turquino Peak, the highest mountain of the island.

The hike, which will also include other emblematic sites of Sierra Maestra mountain range, will be part of the program designed to mark the 55th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Friendship (ICAP by its Spanish acronym), created on December 30, 1960.

Elizabeth Reyes, an official of ICAP in Granma province, told ACN that the hikers were selected from the best graduates of 2014-2015 course of the University of Medical Sciences of the territory.

Reyes noted that the delegation of ICAP in Granma organized the excursion to recognize the work of these young people for the release of the Cuban Five, the Latin American unity and world peace; and against the US blockade against Cuba, international terrorism and fascism.

She added that by climbing the highest point of the island, the group will send a message of solidarity and friendship to all peoples of the world.
