HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 9 (acn) Nguyen Thi Than Hoa, member of the Central Committee of the Viet-Nam Communist Party and president of the Women´s Union, and the delegation she heads, toured Havana city.
The delegation visited the Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the Mediatex textile factory and the Center of Industrial and Craft Development, a project located in Old Havana created by late Vilma Espin aimed at rescuing the dressing traditions in Cuba and to create jobs.
In this facility Arelys Santana Bello, second secretary of the Cuban Women´s Federation (FMC), explained them how spaces like this are important to train housewives and retirees on craft works.
Santana noted the growing interest of tourists for pieces made in Cuba, and that half of the Center´s profits are used to finance courses of gender equality and cultural events for women.
She also highlighted the fact that the Center works with and for the community, therefore all projects are designed taking into account the neighbors needs.
The Vietnamese delegation also visited the Editorial de la Mujer publishing house where they exchanged with journalists working there.
