Vice Admiral Vicente Eya Olomo on a Visit to CubaHAVANA, Cuba, jun 26 (acn) Vice Admiral Vicente Eya Olomo, Delegate Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, and the military delegation accompanying him, arrived in Cuba on Tuesday for an official visit, the Granma newspaper reported on Thursday.
At the Mausoleum to General Antonio Maceo and his assistant, Captain Francisco Gómez (Panchito), he was received on Wednesday by Army Corps Genral Alvaro Lopez, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, First Deputy Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), and Chief of Staff.
While visiting the Mausoleum of Cacahual, the Delegate Defense Minister of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Minister laid a wreath at the monument built to the memory of Maceo and his assistant, and pointed out that it is an honor for him and his delegation to be able to place a wreath of flowers to outstanding personalities in the country's history.
Meanwhile, Lopez explained the symbolism of the place where the end of the war in Angola and Operation Carlota was announced, and in which each December 7 Cubans pay tribute to combatants fallen in internationalist missions.
During his visit to the island, the delegation headed by Vice Admiral Vicente Eya Olomo, as part of an agenda of activities that includes an official welcome at the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, will also tour military units and institutions of the FAR, as well as places of historic and cultural interest.
