HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 23 (ACN) The Cuban National Electoral Commission (CEN) is undertaking intense preparations to guarantee the February 3 upcoming general elections.
CEN vice-president Ruben Perez told reporters in Havana that the personnel that will work in the elections is being appropriately trained, as stipulated by the Electoral Law and complementary regulations. He also referred to the fine-tuning of the information and vote-counting systems.
Preparation include the study of complementary materials and demonstrative lectures, said the official, who explained that the information system is being tested by skilled personnel, I.T. university experts and engineers that designed the system.
Although these actions will conclude over the next hours, self-study and training should continue by every citizen, who has an electoral task to carry out, said the official.
The objective is to act according to the Electoral Law and fully aware of each one's responsibility in order to guarantee all conditions, so that the people exercise their right to vote in a free, direct and secret manner, as established by the Cuban electoral system.
Ruben Perez said that all material resources, including the documents for electoral reports have been guaranteed to be distributed to district commissions on February 1 and 2.
All ballots are ready to use, including a white ballot to vote provincial government delegates and another one in green color for Parliament deputies, said the official and noted that voters' registration lists are being updated to be in the hands of electoral commissions this month.
