HAVANA, Cuba, May 28 (acn) The President of the Republic of El Salvador, Salvador Sanchez, described on Thursday as successful his visit to Cuba, for the signing of important agreements for the consolidation of relations of trade and cooperation with the island.
Minutes before boarding the aircraft at the capital's Jose Marti International Airport, Sanchez told the press that he held "a long, fraternal and friendly conversation with Raul Castro", during which he knew about projects Cuba currently boosts, aimed at the progress of its Revolution.
"We reviewed the agreements made by the governmental teams, which are significant for El Salvador, because they allow for links in areas of great importance in social development, like education, health and environmental issues," he highlighted.
We also laid the foundations to strengthen commercial exchanges, added the head of state, which was seen off at the airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra.
He mentioned the signing of an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at "strengthening the vision of guaranteeing basic foods to the Salvadoran people, in products such as corn, rice and beans."
In addition, the head of state commented about the signing of another agreement, which will make it possible for the health system of El Salvador to have access to direct purchases of Cuban medicaments.
As a sign of the interest of solidifying commercial ties, Sanchez announced that a delegation of ministers to conclude "projects still pending" will visit Cuba in June.
While assessing his three-day official visit to the island, he said that is was very successful, and his meeting with Raul, "a meeting of brothers."
