The state-owned Empresa de Comercio Minorista in the Camaguey, municipality of Minas was the case of lack of control and poor internal organization which favored that over 720 thousand Cuban pesos were lost in one of its branch units, called La Terraza offering catering services and entertainment facilities, according to the local newspaper Adelante.

According to the publication, which cites the Comptroller´s Office as its source, the manager and the accountant of the facility were held responsible for corruption and fraud.

The article particularly refers to an anonymous denunciation about the illegal dispensing of part of the beer allocated to Las Terrazas in another facility called Santa Lucia beach, while another amount was taken to the black market.

The investigation was concluded in the last quarter of 2014; the article explains and notes that curious enough was the fact that no supervising officials at the company realized that contributions to the bank were below normal amounts.
