Cuba and the U.S. Agree to Continue Holding Exchanges

HAVANA, Cuba, May 22 (acn) Cuba and the United States agreed in Washington to continue holding exchanges on issues concerning the work of diplomatic missions, said Josefina Vidal, director general of the United States Office of the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
"We continued to make progress and we will continue holding exchanges," the official told reporters at the Foreign Press Center Press of the historic National Press Club in Washington.
"Sorry for the delay; we were stuck in traffic," Josefina Vidal said jokingly while apologizing for the delay of the press conference.
The Cuban diplomat said that talks referred to the issue of the operation of embassies -an issue in which both countries hold divergent views on the interpretation of the U.N. Charter and the Vienna Conventions ruling the activity- will continue in the coming weeks.
This will be a topic on which in order to move forward and achieve results we should reach a common vision that allows for the adequate context on a reciprocal basis.
The US delegation was headed by the Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roberta Jacobson, while Cuba's was headed by Josefina Vidal, director general of the United States Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
