HAVANA, Cuba, May 7 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro met on Wednesday with Russian Prime Minister Dimitri Medvedev and expressed his gratefulness for the invitation to participate at commemorations for the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism, which will take place Saturday in Moscow.
Raul said he could not miss the celebrations due to the deep friendship that has always united Cuba and Russia and he recalled that when the victory over fascism took place in 1945, he was 14 years old and he used to listen to the news on the confrontation that changed the fate of humanity.
The Russian Prime Minister said he was thankful to the visit of faithful friends like Raul and he recalled his visits to Cuba and the meetings he held with Fidel Castro and with the Cuban President.
Medvedev said the parade to take place on Saturday will count on interesting deployment of aircraft, armored equipment, which will be revealed on the Red Square. The two leaders held a private meeting and then joined their delegations.
According to a news release by the Russian government, Raul Castro and Dimitri Medvedev addressed bilateral trade exchange and prospects for joint projects in the areas of energy, transportation, health, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
