US University offers students health program in CubaHAVANA, Cuba, May 6 (acn) The University of South Dakota, in the United States, is offering students a program to take Health Service Administration in Cuba and learn from the island´s reality, culture and people.

A news article on the webpage of the South Dakota-based Kelo AM radio station announced that the first 15 students and their professor will travel Cuba during their next winter break and visit hospitals, medical universities and communities.

"We chose Cuba because it is known around the world for its national health system where all residents have access to cost-effective health care, and because it is a leader in providing health care for nearly a hundred developing countries," said Professor Carole South-Winter, who teaches health care administration in the USD Beacom School of Business, cited by Kelo AM.

The article stresses the Cuban medical training program, which it is "ideal location for the Dakota University students to compare different health care systems."

The Health Services Administration program includes the formation and operation of public health policies.

The United States maintains a Cuban travel ban for US citizens, who can only visit the island under a 20-category general license that includes academic, religious exchange and other aspects.
