Cubans Show their Support for Venezuela

HAVANA, Cuba, May 1 (acn) Hundreds of thousands of Cubans showed on Friday their support for the Venezuelan people and Revolution at the main rally for International Workers Day at the capital's Jose Marti Revolution Square.

Accompanying the people and President Raul Castro in this historic meeting was the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, a special guest for this celebration.
Over the last few weeks, the expressions of solidarity towards the South American nation, the victims of constants threats by the government of the United States, increased several times over.
An example of that support was the collection of more than three million signatures against the executive order given by U.S. President Barack Obama.
The day of activities for Day celebrations on the island was propitious to ratify the statements made by Cuban President Raul Castro of accompanying Venezuelans in this crucial moment of Latin American history.
In his opening speech, Ulises Guilarte, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and secretary general of the Cuban Workers Confederation, reiterated the stance of the Caribbean island and highlighted the figure of Commander Hugo Chavez, Cuba's best friend.
Attending the rally in this capital are over 2,000 friends of the Cuban Revolution, representing some 70 nations.
