HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 21 (acn) More than 7 550 000 Cubans, 88.30 percent of voters, exercised their right to vote in the midterm elections held last Sunday to elect delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power.
At a press conference, Alina Balseiro Gutierrez, president of the National Electoral Commission, said that 11 425 delegates were elected and 1 164 electoral districts will go to second round the coming Sunday.
Balseiro clarified that although these are preliminary data, the attendance was influenced by the new immigration policy of the country, as people who are abroad, as it is their right, were remained in the so-called electoral rolls.
