HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 17 (acn) Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro held a telephone conversation with the members of a university student brigade, whose name honors the entrance 70 years ago of Fidel at the University of Havana and which has been on a tour of sites linked to the history of Cuba since April 11.
It is important for you to have made this trip, not because of satisfying curiosity but of acquiring knowledge, said Fidel during the phone conversation with the president of the University Student Federation, Randy Perdomo.
Fidel inquired about the places visited by the youth brigade, which toured areas in the provinces of Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila and Granma since they departed Havana last Saturday.
The young people are also scheduled to visit Fidel´s birthplace in the locality of Biran and regarding this program, the Cuban leader suggested that the youths should tour the lands formerly occupied by the United Fruit Company, some 140 thousand hectares planted only with sugar cane, which provided only a three-month labor period to local workers.
