According to Radio Mayabeque radio station, the contest includes the categories of visual arts, photography, literature and narration of poems, and short essays, expressing the legacy of the top Cuban leader in his relationship to animal production and food-production systems.

As part of his huge promotion of ranching, Fidel Castro lived his last years researching on a strategy to enhance pastures, forages and protein-containing plants. He even turned areas around his home in Havana into an experimental lab where he got important results.
