Cuba attends conference on sustainable marine and coastal management

HAVANA, Cuba, November 17 (ACN) A delegation from the Center for Environmental Studies of the province of Cienfuegos (CEAC) participated in the Intermediate Coordination Meeting of the regional project "Strengthening Regional Capacities in the Application of Nuclear and Isotopic Techniques to Increase Knowledge about the Pressure Factors Affecting Marine and Coastal Sustainable Management."

Cuba’s MSc Yusmila Helguera Pedraza, who is Technical Counterpart for Cuba and Representative of the Microplastics Component, presented a regional overview of results and prospects in the participating countries.

CEAC's involvement in this process ensures the integration of national priorities into the regional agenda and strengthens the international cooperation promoted by the IAEA, facilitated by REMARCO, a regional scientific cooperation network that assembles Latin American and Caribbean institutions to do research on the main stressors affecting marine and coastal ecosystems.
