Cuba law firms stress the value of members’ ethics

HAVANA, Cuba, September 2 (ACN) The fundamental value of ethics in the professional conduct of its members and a thorough analysis of the results achieved in the current five-year period marked the first day of the Constituent General Assembly of the Cuban Organization of Collective Law Firms (ONBC).

Presiding over the meeting were Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party; José Ramón Machado Ventura, Commander of the Rebel Army; Oscar Manuel Silvera Martínez, Minister of Justice; and Lilia María Hernández Doejó, president of the National Board of the ONBC, among other authorities related to the legal sector.

The Assembly paid tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in honor of his legacy as a great lawyer in the year of his centenary and on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the First Declaration of Havana.

In a special address to the floor, Machado Ventura stressed the need that the ONBC members uphold ethics in all aspects of professional life and protect the prestige and authority of the Bar.

In presenting her report on the institution's work during the period, the ONBC president highlighted the importance of collective efforts to meet these goals and reiterated the members’ duty to strengthen their role as they serve, advise and provide legal counsel to the citizens.
