MANICARAGUA, VILLACLARA, Cuba, August 8 (ACN) The main ceremony commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the creation of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH) was held today on the Hanabanilla Lake, on the southern slope of the Guamuhaya Massif.
The event was attended by Susely Morfa, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and first secretary of the Provincial Committee of that political body in the central province of Villa Clara; Antonio Rodriguez, president of the INRH; and Milaxy Yanet Sanchez, governor.
Special guests included Hero of the Republic of Cuba and five-time Olympic champion Mijain Lopez, and Labor Hero Angel Narciso Rodriguez Quintana, known as "The Pope," who has guarded the hydraulic enclave for more than 50 years.
The ceremony recognized the provinces of Ciego de Avila, Las Tunas, Artemisa, and Villa Clara as outstanding representatives.
Eight labor collectives and nine workers received the Faustino Perez Seal for celebrating 50 years in the sector, and the Hanabanilla-Jibacoa Complex, the venue for the national event, received a tribute from the sector's executives.
A significant moment was the presentation of a special recognition to Cuban Sports Glories Mijain Lopez and Ariel Pestano, by the highest authorities of the PCC and the Villa Clara government, on behalf of the people of this central province.
