Details Finalize in Cuba for Upcoming Partial Elections

Details Finalize in Cuba for Upcoming Partial ElectionsHAVANA, Cuba, March 31 - In Cuba, the National Electoral Commission (CEN) finalizes details for the next partial elections, traditionally characterized by the people's enthusiasm and wide participation, after a satisfactory nomination process.

In a press conference on Monday, Alina Balseiro, president of the CEN, informed that 27,379 Cubans were proposed at the meetings held to nominate candidates to the municipal assemblies of the People's Power, among them 9,815 women, that is, 35.84 percent of the total.
Balseiro highlighted that this percentage is the fruit of efforts to acknowledge the intense work that women have carried out for years in the communities.
She pointed out that partial elections will take place on April 19, for which 24,646 electoral colleges will work, adding that a dynamic test will be held on April 12, and that training for the persons who preside over polling stations and the members of district commissions will start on Wednesday.
Starting from March 30 and until April 19, the biographies and pictures of nominees will be on display at constituencies and busy areas throughout Cuba, so the population selects those it considers best to represent citizens' rights.
The second round to elect delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of the People's Power has been scheduled for April 26.
