HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 1 (ACN) Salvador Valdes Mesa, Cuban Vice President, urged to strengthen oversight of the contracting, marketing, and sale of agricultural products, in the province of Mayabeque .
According to the provincial journal, in his speech during the 20th ordinary session of the 18th term of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power in Güines, Valdes Mesa advocated for decentralizing powers, eliminating intermediaries, and promoting direct sales, with the goal of positively impacting prices and guaranteeing food sovereignty and local self-sufficiency.
The member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba emphasized the importance of making decisions from the ground up to advance toward greater economic autonomy.
The deputy representing this locality in the Cuban Parliament participated in the analysis of the Economic and Agri-Food Affairs committees, where actions to improve the quality of life and socioeconomic development were discussed.
Among the topics discussed, the publication states, were banking, new measures by the Cuban Telecommunications Company S.A., the Government Program to Correct Distortions and Reboost the Economy, as well as the epidemiological situation and the local development strategy.
