Cuban Youths to Take Part at Local Chinese Language and Culture Contest

 Havana, May 14 (ACN) Eleven Cuban University and High School students will contest the Chinese Bridge competition, an academic contest promoting the learning of Chinese Language around the world.

The contest to take place Friday, May 16 at Havana’s Habana Libre Hotel, has been organized by the University of Havana’s Confucius Institute and the Education Department of the Chinese Embassy in Cuba, with the aim of encouraging the knowledge of Chinese language and culture.

Participants will give presentations in Chinese Language about the culture, history and society of the Asian nation and will perform dances, poetry or songs with elements of Chinese traditional culture; they will also answer questions from a jury.

At the end of the competition, two winners from each education level will have the chance to participate at a regional or semifinal competition and in the global contest in China. Those who win the global contest will be granted scholarships in China.

Chinese Bridge https://tinyurl.com/zrmx9yym is a contest for foreign students on their mastery of the Chinese language, promoted by the Centre for Language Education and Cooperation of China’s Education Ministry (Hanban) and established as a plan to introduce Chinese to the world.

Over 600 contestants from more than 145 nations of the world have participated in the annual Chinese Language competition. Cuba joined the contest in 2010 with successful participation by local students over the past years.
