HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 20 (acn) Yves Gagnon, Canada's ambassador to Havana, highlighted on Thursday that relations between his country and Cuba are very strong, while addressing participants in the closing ceremony of the 14th Seminar of Studies on Canada, held at the capital's Casa de las Americas cultural institution.
He said that these bonds tend to strengthen and that examples to this statement are that 40 percent of foreign tourists visiting the island come from Canada and that the Cuban Lizt Alfonso Company recently returned to Cuba after a successful tour of his country.
He underlined that 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations and that Cuba was the first country of this part of the world with which his government made such bonds official.
Gagnon said that Cuban products will be present in the collateral cultural activities of the Pan-American Games to be held in July in Toronto, and that he's sure that the athletes of the Caribbean island will win an impressive amount of medals, like they're used to.
