GUANTANAMO, Cuba, May 6 (ACN) Anthony Acosta Cardona, a twelfth grade student of the Enrique Soto Gomez Pre-University Institute in this eastermost city, dedicated several months to his preparation for the entrance exams to Higher Education, which began today throughout Cuba, and thus begin his path to a Bachelor's Degree in Law.
Acosta Cardona is one of the 738 pre-university students who took the entrance exams, which began Tuesday with Mathematics and will continue on May 9 and 13, with Spanish - Literature and Cuban History, respectively.
Ronald Fuentes Piñeri, municipal methodologist of Mathematics, indicated that the students showed great interest during the whole preparation process, however, many were worried about the pressure that this subject, which they consider the most difficult, implies.
Milagros Perez Fuentes, Spanish-Literature teacher at the Enrique Soto Center, said that the entrance exams to Higher Education are of utmost importance, since they allow students to be placed according to their level of knowledge and are a fundamental way to access university.
The three exams are maintained: the ordinary (compulsory), the extraordinary (for those who failed in the ordinary exam) and the special (for very justified cases who did not take any of the previous exams).
The special exam for Mathematics will be held on June 23, while Spanish Literature and History of Cuba will be held on June 25 and 27, respectively.
For admission to Cuban Higher Education for the 2025-2026 academic year, there are an estimated 2,405 options for Guantanamo students, out of the 1,744 who opt for university careers.
