French Visitors Ready to Join May Day Celebrations in Cuba

Havana, April 16 (ACN) A group of friends of Cuba headed by French Michelle Claverie, illustrious daughter of the eastern city of Camaguey, are visiting local sites as part of their agenda in Cuba, which include their participation at May Day celebrations.

The French visitors visited Camaguey’s provincial branch of the Cuban Women’s Federation and exchanged with officials about the organization’s work with women and their families.

They also visited the local venue of Cuban Friendship Institute and met with the vocal ensemble “Desandann,” which promoted Haitian culture.

The friends of Cuba are also scheduled to visit the cities of Bayamo and Santiago de Cuba before heading for the capital Havana to join the people’s May Day march marking International Workers’ Day.

Michelle Claverie, who lives in Havana where she retired from Radio Habana Cuba international radio station has accompanied French visitors on Cuba tours, which has allowed them to have a first-hand look at the island’s reality.

Some 700 friends of Cuba from over 20 nations will attend May Day celebrations here, particularly the massive march on Havana’s Revolution Square.
