Cuban experts promote strategy for radiological protection

 HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 15 (ACN) The Cuban Society of Physics is planning a new work strategy for its Radiological Protection Section (SPR-Cuba by its Spanish acronym), the group announced today, coinciding with the International Day of Radiological Protection in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In its programming we take into account the national reality and the current challenges of the profession in the country, say its specialists in a message for the ephemeris, echoed by the Network of Nuclear Communicators (REDNUC).

They indicate that this year they are celebrating the date with new challenges aimed at making visible, enhancing and strengthening the work of our organization as a space for meeting, exchange, collaboration, development and growth of Cuban professionals.

We aspire to achieve a highly professional organization of high technical rigor and advanced thinking, dynamic, modern, attractive and useful for its members, internationally inserted and of great value for us, the Cuban society in general and its institutions, they added.

They specify that it must be in line with the corresponding Punta Cana Action Plan, approved in October 2023 in that Dominican Republic resort, and also by the Latin American and Caribbean Radiation Protection Federation.

Nationally, they argue, 2026 will also be a celebration year, where the SPR-Cuba will carry out its campaign with new spaces for dialogue and meeting.

Radiological Protection Day is celebrated every April 15 in Latin America and the Caribbean. It was agreed by the respective societies of the region in 2006, in honor of PhD Dan J Beninson, a renowned Argentine physician and physicist, who was the first Latin American to be distinguished in 1996 with the Sievert Award, the highest recognition in the specialty worldwide.
