HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 11 (ACN) Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (Parliament), emphasized the need to contribute collectively to face the challenges that affect the country's economic development.
From our mission, as representatives of the people, it is essential to contribute from the collective thinking and acting, facing the challenges that impact the development of the Cuban economy, said Lazo Hernandez during a meeting at the National Capitol.
The Parliament website reported that during the meeting, along with the Vice President of the National Assembly, Ana Maria Mari Machado, strategies were discussed to increase and diversify foreign income, a key aspect of the Government Program to correct distortions and boost the economy.
Oscar Perez-Oliva Fraga, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, stressed the importance of advancing exports to ensure economic sustainability and import substitution.
The analysis, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, was part of the partial review of the agreements adopted during the 4th Ordinary Session.
The actions of the Ministry of Food Industry to increase production and income were also evaluated.
Alberto Lopez Diaz, head of the sector, explained the priorities for 2025, which include food self-sufficiency, the recovery of installed capacities and the strengthening of productive chains with the support of science and innovation.
The deputies analyzed how the food industry is committed to prioritizing self-sufficiency, sustainability and productive linkages in 2025, among other purposes outlined by the organization.
This parliamentary exercise, a prelude to the 5th Regular Session of the 10th Legislature, will continue to examine crucial issues for the national agenda in order to strengthen economic policies.
