HOLGUÍN, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) The 42,500 panels made in China for the Corúa 5 solar farm in the province of Holguín became operational and allowed synchronization with the National Electrical System after the technical checks prior to start-up.
Central Committee member Joel Queipo Ruíz, first secretary of the Communist Party in the province, published on-site confirmation that the new photovoltaic power station contributed 21.6 MW in the first trials and congratulate those involved in this important work, built without a break in 300 days.
Another four solar farms of similar capacity are currently under construction in the region, where seven lower power stations received through a donation are already in operation, which will add up to around 150 MW by the end of the year.
The effort is part of the national program based on the use of renewable energy sources to reduce the consumption of imported fossil fuels and strengthen the national power grid.
