Cuba ratifies its willingness to increase digital communication training



HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 24 (ACN) The 1st Meeting of Ministers of Information and Communication, held recently in Havana, ratified the commitment to the coordination of international programs for the education and training of professionals on issues of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital communication.

Jorge Legañoa Alonso, vice president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication (ICS), urged to work on the digital literacy of people to provide them with tools that empower more critical subjects of their reality, use AI tools responsibly and favor emancipatory digital communication processes.

Legañoa Alonso called for the creation of a transdisciplinary and multilateral working group to discuss the challenges of AI, its ethical implications, and to promote spaces for dialogue that allow the successful integration of this tool with the values of each nation.

On behalf of the lCS, he insisted on strengthening spaces for integration that encourage debate among equals on issues of communication and information, and to unify efforts in a liberating communications offensive and technological sovereignty.

He also referred to the need to promote the culture of verification of news and digital content as a guarantor of transparency and adherence to the truth, as well as the establishment of robust cybersecurity measures to ensure greater privacy and data security.

The 1st Meeting of Ministers of Information and Communication was held on March 17 with the presence of high-level representatives of social communication and authorities from Venezuela, Mexico, Vietnam, Russia, Zimbabwe and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

It was aimed at seeking a roadmap to move forward together, strengthen strategic alliances and promote knowledge through the dissemination of information on the regulatory frameworks, structures, public policies and programs of each of the nations.
